let a leek go to seed

this is how to get seeds from a leek – it will go on for years producing new plants in the same patch

I too have grown leeks in the same place for many years, without disease buildup (so far, after more than 10 years). The flowering plants not only look very attractive, they also attract a wide range of insects, including honeybees and bumble bees. And you get an annual supply of free leek seedlings. Not bad! This is a practise I would recommend to all gardeners.
